Fuvahmulah Dive
Fuvahmulah sits alone in the equatorial channel between the main Maldives atolls and the Chagos Archipelago, with no surrounding reef structure — which is what makes it a shark island. Deep water comes right up to the shore, and the resident tiger sharks can be reliably seen on the south-coast cleaning station. Scalloped hammerheads school here December-May, threshers turn up at dawn. The operation is run by Fuvahmulah locals; core business is guided shark dives for visiting advanced divers.
Pricing is quoted locally in USD or EUR; THB-equivalent shown here for comparison. Reaching Fuvahmulah requires a domestic flight from Malé ($200-400 return) plus separate guesthouse accommodation. Suits advanced divers chasing tiger sharks, hammerheads or thresher encounters and willing to dive 30-40 m drop-offs in current. Not suited to newer divers or to travellers wanting resort comforts — this is a working local island with guesthouse rooms only.
